Who I am in the world is deeply influenced from my maternal lineage, to be bold and courageous
with our dreams, actions, and lives. In the 1950s my grandmother decides to embark on a worldwide
trip with her friend from Sydney.
It was a time when women didn’t travel independently, and her
family didn’t think she would make the trip. That fired her up more, and she boarded a ship to travel
to Europe. I got to relive those memories of her trip with her on the eve of my worldwide adventure.
She had a large photo album, of small black and white photographs of her trip all around the world.
These were in chronological order, and she remembered everything to a tee of her trip, connections,
and memories. She even made the newspaper in Kansas, as women travelling like this was so radical
at the time.
When I started my own adventure, I had the privilege to explore so many countries, with eyes wide of
curiosity of how other people lived life. I became obsessed to know how different cultures did life,
differently to myself. It was an honour to share spaces with so many cultures, and I loved how people
who may not have the material wealth, celebrated, honoured through ritual, and debunked any status
quo I had been conditioned to behave.
After this experience and returning to Australia, I vowed after being granted the gift to immersion into
other cultures and celebrating what it means to be human in so many forms, that I wanted to pay it
forward. While my grandmother has since passed, it was the eve of this time that I took some
courageous and bold steps to lean into what is a more meaningful in life, and how I could be of service more.
Right now, in the world, I am on that path, as a almost graduate in International and Community
Development, where I have learnt how the ideology pertaining to our modern worlds, have strongly
bounded the collective belief and priorities, to the detriment of our own humanity. As Life Coach,
starting my business this year, to help others reframe their possibilities for themselves, and opening
untapped portals to their potential. As a dreamer of all the possibilities that are out there, for a better
global community.
The story I would like to see rewritten for women, is one that I leant while I was in Phnom Penh,
working for a social enterprise upskilling Cambodian women in business skills to run their SMEs. In
this experience, I got to witness, that by empowering one woman, with the skills to run her business,
this impact not only returned in the capital of the business, but the impact was also so much larger, it
opened opportunities to their staff, families, and broader communities. It also opened a new
consciousness for how they operated their business to ensure the sustainability of the greater
environment. This was all led from a deep love of their country and the belief of what it could be.
I want more stories like this to become the mainstream norm. Empowering women, empowers a
broader ecosystem of others, environment, and collective action, all for the greater good, and this is
shown possible, from my experience in Cambodia. Can you imagine a world, where this was the norm
for women to operate? As a woman, witnessing this made me feel home, in the true sense of the power
and sustainability of the feminine. This experience made me so aware of the conditioning I had
received, in a capitalist society, that disintegrated most forms of reciprocity.
I would love to see women return home, to our true nature. To the power of the ecosystem of
humanity, that supports so much more to abundance to rise. The colours of humanity to flourish.
The story that I next want to write for myself is emerging. I am currently on the precipice many
completions. A change of scenery, a completion of my formal education, the emergence of an intuitive
business, and rewriting the stories that have haunted me in the past, to reframe and recalibrate what it
is that feels so true.
It been such an honour to study and learn the things I have explored in my life, and how this has
informed my understanding of humanity, and our experiences in times like the present. I believe there
is such an opportunity now to reconsider how we have formed the systems that pertain to how life is
structured and rework them for more harmony within the ecosystem of our worlds.
I will be experimenting with my different knowledge areas and weaving them into my business, to
share this more broadly with the world. This will include how to embrace the collective, champion
one another, and connect with our true essences more. Giving this life feels so true, but I am also
nervous as its very raw and real. However, the message I learnt from my grandmother rings true in
this next phase, and that is to remain bold and courageous in any endeavours that form on this
journey.
