1. Who am I in the world?
I am the oldest sister with two younger brothers, and I am a mother of a beautiful 16-year-old teenage girl. I have fought for my life, to live as a mother and for my daughter’s living. I love to help my friends, who also fight for their living. I started work when I was 17 years old, working in a hotel and doing marketing for an insurance company. I have also been a Personal Assistant for the Director of a mining company, a chiropractic company, an oil and gas company and a travel company.
I stopped this work as I learned what I really desire to do. I love fashion and I love to dress up. My mum used to make and sew dresses when I was a little kid and I used to help her by doing small things to help her complete the job faster. With my help, we could sew hundreds of dresses in two weeks.
In 2012 I started to learn about material, and how to make the patterns of the dresses. My dream is to make dresses for my own boutique. I began with what dresses I liked to wear on my body. Then I started to learn about the ethnic design of Indonesia. I never went to design school, I just taught myself and then began to join fashion exhibitions in Jakarta in 2014. I began making modern ethnic dresses and Muslim dresses. I then owned a small shop in Jakarta, where there is a big Muslim population. This didn’t really feel like success for me, but I learned through it. I learned about what women like to wear and what they see as beauty. I see success as making clothes that I wear on myself, before then making them for others.
I later took some courses about how to make eyebrows, eyelashes and nails. I made my own clinic in my house in Jakarta as well as doing door to door service. I didn’t do this for very long as my eyesight isn’t very good and making dresses suited me better.
In 2017 I decided to move to Bali. I got a job as a store manager for a boutique, which I really enjoyed and it helped me learn about the local market. While I was confident to open my own boutique again, my mom didn’t support me as she was worried that I was making a risky decision. With some savings and a bank loan, I opened my boutique in 2018, producing summer outfits, swimwear and handbags.
2. The story I would like next written for woman:
I was born into a broken family, and I was raised by a strong woman, which is my mum. My father left when I was 5 years old, and my mom fought to raise me and my brothers. This is the amazing thing for me, my mum never got an education at school, but she can survive without a husband at her side and be responsible for me and my brothers. We faced a lot of hard situations, but we made it, and this made me who I am now.
I have a dream to be a successful business woman and I fight for it. Since I have a baby girl in my life, that dream has become stronger and stronger. She is the reason why I keep fighting for my dream, because I want a nice life for her and to meet all of her needs. My life and my career has been up and down, I have faced many failures, but I have never given up.
3. This is the next story that I want to write for myself:
No matter how hard it is, I cannot stop here and now, until I reach my dream. I want to rebuild my business again until I am successful again, even after the COVID situation has torn my business apart. I have learned to accept the situation and to be a bigger hearted person than before. I tell myself that whatever I believe in, and whatever is in my mind, it will happen, and so I keep working for my dreams.
